Include T20 in Olympics

The former Australian wicket keeper Adam Gilchrist has written in his column in the Indian daily that cricket shoudl be included as part of the Olympics. He said the game should be brought back to spread the game of cricket to all participatin countries. There are more than 200 nations participating and reintroducing olympic again creates a chance to take the game to all these countries.

"We have a responsibility to grow our game in new territories and amongst the women of the world."

"I believe the Olympic Games is the vehicle the sport should use to aggressively sell the message of our sport to all 202 competing Olympic nations."

"So that our sport is strong and robust in countries where it is currently played, and exciting and ground-breaking in countries who haven't yet caught the 'cricket-bug'," he said.

Take it from someone who has won almost everything cricket has to offer -- the Olympics is the absolute pinnacle in sport."

"Cricketers won't care about the money. The chance to stand on top of the Olympic podium, to wear an Olympic gold medal and the pride of belting out your national anthem would be a life-changing money-can’t-buy experience," he said.

Champions League can go on--FICA!

The FICA (Federation of International Cricketers Association) has termed the schedule of Champions League as legally correct. They find no issue according to "the relevant clause (in Participating Nations' Agreement) 2.6 states that a member shall not participate in any cricket match, other than a warm-up match organised by IDI for an event, without IDI approval from the period of five days prior to the first match of the ICC event and five days after the event," said Chairman of FICA, Mr. May.

"However this clause interestingly is not included in the Player Terms for the Event - therefore the restriction does not apply to individual players," he further added.

There is no response from ICC yet.

ICC Not Happhy with Champions League Schedule

ICC is not happy with the scheudle of the Champions League. The committee has sent a letter to the Champions League committee asking for an explanation and asked them to reshedule the event.

As per ICC rules, no international events should be played seven before and after the ICC event. With the Champions Trophy scheduled between September 11 and 28, the Champions League starts on Septmber 29--next day after the CT final. This is not allowed as per ICC rules.

We have to wait and see what Champions League committee is planning to do.
