Match Fixing in IPL? Modi to Get Back!

The IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi has said that he will review the TV footage and do an investigation.

KKR lost the match despite scoring 173. One of the top scorers of KKR, Bradd Hodge was dropped, but was seen in the hospitality box.

Since KKR is out of the competition, a win will not do anything to KKR but they can benefit if they lose the match to Royal Challengers. The win boosted the chance of RC making to the last four.

RC is playing their next match against CSK on May 14, 2009 at 4:00 PM IST.

Earlier, ICC cautioned BCCI about the possible corruption which the latter ruled out.

KKR not for Sale!

There for a rumour that Shaurukh Khan is trying to sell KKR. He bought it for Rs.200 crorers while he is looking for someone who estimates it at Rs.300 crorers.

But, KKR has announced that it is not for sale and Shahrukh Khan is not looking for any buyers. He is happy with the team and the players! It is time that the team starts winning!

Match 10: RR v. KKR: Match Tied, but Y Pathan's Sixes help RR win in Super Over!

In the closely faught match between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders, Warne's RR had the final laugh.

The match in hand was lost by KKR. Last over required 7 runs, but lost Ganguly in the penultimate ball. Last ball required 2 runs, but it was too much for Ishanth Sharma. He drove the ball towards cover where Warne did a wonderful diving stop. While going for the 2nd run, Ishanth was well short of his crease.

This created Super Over where each team has to select three batsmen and one bowler.

Gayle, McCullum and Ganguly were selected to bat for KKR and Kamaran Khan bowled for Rajasthan Royals:

Ball 1: Single to long off by Gayle;
Ball 2: Single on a hip-height full toss by McCullum. He asked for a no-ball but umpires denied it;
Ball 3: Wide;
Ball 3: Four over mid on by Gayle, over pitched and chipped over long on
Ball 4: Four over square leg by Gayle; pitched on leg stump and he flicked it;
Ball 5: Four over mid wicket by Gayle; He stayed close to the wicket and hit it over mid-wicket.
Ball 6: Caught beautifully by Quiney at deep cover; ball pitched on the wide off stump which he tried to cut but went straight to sweeper cover;

KKR scored 15 runs for 1 wicket in 1 over. RR needed 16;

RR selected Y Pathan, RA Jadeja, and Mascarenhas and KKR had Mendis for bowling;

Ball 1: Six over long-off by Pathan;
Ball 2: He hit it over long on but went high in the air; dropped; Proper adjustment would have turned this match;
Ball 3: Six over deep mid-wicket by Pathan;
Ball 4: Four by Pathan wide of square leg

RR reached 18 in 4 balls and win the crucial 2 points

IPL Match 4: DC v. KKR: Chargers Raid Kolkata! Win by 8 Wkts!

The season 2 started with surprises! Mumbai Indians who lost consecutive matches in the first edition, beat last year's runner-up CSK by 19 runs. Rajasthan Royals, the champsions, was beaten by Royal Challengers, one of the big losers of IPL 1.

Delhi beat Kings XI Punjab, thanks to rain and Vettori. Deccan Charges beat KKR convincingly and produced another shock of the tournament. The teams that are expected to win, lost matches. Good for the tournament and spectators!

KKR, with the new captain McCullum, did everything ordinary and did not even bat the full quota of 20 overs. MuCullum was unfortunate to be given out caught behind while the ball brushed the thigh pads. Ganguly was not able to improvise the run rate and fell for pressure. Hodge, the top scorer with 31 played some good shots. Only four batsmen scored two digit scores and KKR were all out for 101.

RP Singh was the key wicket-taker for DC with 4 for 22. Edwards, the West Indian fast bowler created pressure on the top order by bowling a tight line. His figures were 0 for 6 in his 4 overs including a maiden.

Deccan Charges started cautiously as they do not want to repeat RR's performance. Gilchrist and Gibbs added 24 for first wicket. VVS Laxman was run out for 10. Rohit Sharma utilized the opportunity to prove his form and stayed till the end scoring 36 of 32 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes.

I was not consulted: Ganguly

Reacting to the question about the "Four Captains" theory by John Buchanan, former coach of Austrlian Cricket Team, Ganguly said that he was not consulted on this topic. He also said that he is not sure whether it would work.

"Tomorrow I can jump out and say we need four batting coaches, four John Buchanans and Shah Rukh Khan can say we need six Andy Bichels," Ganguly told NDTV. "These are all opinions; these are the way they are thinking how Twenty20 cricket can be played. We'll have to wait and see because it's completely new, it has never happened in sports."

He said that he came to know about it only through media and no one told him about this plan. Thought it is not yet implemented, no one gave him information about this. "On Tuesday, John mooted the idea to me," Ganguly told Times of India. "All I can say is that I was not consulted on this. Frankly, it's a new concept. It may work, it may not. There are no guarantees in sport."

He further added, "Frankly speaking, I doubt whether the likes of McCullum or Gayle too would have heard about such a concept. I am sure it will be new to them. At least, I have never been part of a team with four captains. We all need to first find out how it works."
